Cinema Paradiso Review
CinemaParadiso has improved the visual style of their site to the point where it looks comparable to the best rental sites out there. The site itself is well laid out and I found it extremely fast when browsing and searching. Probably not as many titles as the big players like blockbuster, but cinemaparadiso does have an ace up its sleeve in providing a world cinema section. This contains 20+ countries and the range of titles they offer is actually quite impressive here.

If you like foreign language films, then this is one site that's well worth trying. The 3-out at a time rental plan at £15 represents good value for money, but if you are looking for low cost options, then the £6 per month plan enables you to have 3 rentals every month, so £2 per rental.

DVD's are sent from London.

Cinema Paradiso Customer Reviews
Matt from Camberley on 2007-12-13 Rates them:
Works fine, as long as you don't need to contact customer service. I put my account on freeze (a service where they won't charge you for a 3 month period if you want to) and they continued to charge my account. Customer service will not respond to my emails (I've sent eight so far). Avoid this company, if any goes wrong you will not get your money back.!
kerstin from london on 2007-11-05 Rates them:
You need to tell your readers that Cinema paradiso is not a good company. I did a free trial with them and cancelled before the end of the trial as was my right. I had returned the dvd's but there was a postal strike which they knew about and mentioned on their site. Eventually they recieved their dvd's. But they then charged me for an extra month in which i did not ask for or receive any dvd's! I have written politely several times, they are impossible to contact by phone. Each time they write a standard reply not dealing with any of my complaints. I am very frustrated and annoyed especially as they keep emailing me to go back with them. Er, no. I wouldnt go back to an abusive boyfriend and i won't go back to an abusive dvd company either!
Rip off merchants!

Avoid cinema paradiso. I was pleased with their 2 at a time unlimeted service till the end of last year. My 4 or 5 a week has reduced to a trickle and now they've stopped altogether. I've had no response to my "feedback". Have they gone out of business or on holiday?

In search for better company to provide me with DVD rental, I come across to the review from Jonathan from Leigh about Cinema Paradiso. I must say that I am a member of Cinema Paradiso and have been for some time now never have experienced this problem. Cinema Paradiso ALWAYS send me replacement as soon as they receive disc back from me and the cost of 1 DVD at a time is £9.49 not £9.99 as stated. CP thumbs up. Keep up the good work
Jonathan from Leigh on 2006-12-06 Rates them:
I am on the one disc unlimited package which is a misnomer because I'm lucky if I get a disc a week from my selection of 25 films.
Initially though all was well and I received a couple of films a week and these were always within my top 5 choices. However after 3 months that changed and I started getting films from the bottom of my list only, and the turnaround time went up from a couple of days to about 5 days.
When I complained about this I was told about their fair usage policy which I can only imagine I had exceeded by watching the film on the day and returning the following day.
So on my unlimited package of 9.99 a month I get a film per week which certainly over the last few months has been a "filler" type (bottom of my list) which I don't think represents good value. If I wanted to rent a mid range title, mid-week my local video store would do this a lot cheaper than 2.50.
Unfortunately I have a credit on my account but as soon as this is used up (they won’t refund it) I will be leaving Cinema Paradiso. Myself I don't think they are a lot different to any of the other companies out there but on a smaller scale, and having been dissatisfied with all of the others (Screen Select were good but patchy) I'm seriously considering a SKY Movies subscription. This coupled with the excellent (and now free) Film4 should give myself and my family everything we could want which the internet rental companies don't seem to be able to do - especially Cinema Paradiso.

Tried to sign for a free trial they sent me no DVDs, I complained, they claimed to have sent an email asking me to increase my list in order to receive DVDs?? I had received nothing nor did it indicate on my account that I required to do anything. Were I suspicious I would suspect this as a delaying tactic to get me past the trial period? Or simple incompetence and poor communication. There are better choices and little difference in price if any between companies I suggest screen select far more professional trustworthy service.
John from London on 2006-01-28 Rates them:
I registered for the Free Trial. Next day they sent me an e-mail saying that the Free Trial offer has already been used in my household (not true). I replied and explained I have never used the trial before. 6 days later, they didn't even care to reply to my message. Customer service non-existent. Stay away from this company. There are better choises out there.
NR from Portsmouth on 2005-09-15 Rates them:
Very good service. Nearly always dispatch the next dvd the same day they receive back the last one. Only downside is they take a while to get new titles and have a limited catalogue. Miles better than LoveFilm and ScreenSelect though.
Phil from Lancashire on 2005-08-25 Rates them:
Simply excellent!! Very fast turnaround. Reliable. They try to send DVD's which are near to the top of my list. I am on a 2 at a time subscription and am easily watching 4 films a week. They would send more but I'd find it hard to watch more than 4 a week.
Adam from London on 2005-04-04 Rates them:
I’ve tried this company and after returning the first DVD they had the fastest turnaround from all I have tried so far. The customer services responded to my e-mails the same day so I must give them 10 out of 10.
Jon from Nottingham on 2005-03-19 Rates them:
Trial started really well, got the 1st DVD the next day after joining then returned the DVD back to them the same day with certificate of posting. However this has still not arrived and they are not interested in sorting out. Will be cancelling trial immediately as service is worst experienced do far by these types of companies.

I simply had to write this review after reading what the others had said about Cinema Paradiso. I have tried a few of the free trails that are on the go at the moment and i have to say that my top three were Cinema Paradiso, Screen Select and LoveFilm (in that order). Cinema Paradiso's Foreign/Art House section has to be one of the best out there (if that's your cup of tea?) and they gave me my first selection nearly everytime during my free trial. There was no delays in sending my movies and they recieved all the dvd's i sent back to them. Comming a close second was Screen Select, who were equally efficient and hastle free but may have been only slightly lacking in their selection of titles (again this only counts if you like the type of movies i do!!). LoveFilm was my third favourite because the other two were so good.

I would however, like to sound a note of caution about DVD365.com. I tried to register for the free trial with them three times but every time i put my credit card details into their server, the page disappeared and went back to the "sign up" page. I emailed them a couple of times to voice my concern (eventaully cancelling my credit card with my bank) and all they could manage a couple of days later was a one line reply saying "if you are having problems registering, please call our support line"....DOH!!

pippa from wales on 2005-02-27 Rates them:
customer service non existant - a dvd got lost on the post and a week later still no news from them - have cancelled membership and now trying to decide where to go next! Also has become alot slower since christmas... lucky to get, with 3 dvd's out at a time, 3 films a week!
amanda from gainsborough on 2005-02-21 Rates them:
gave all my bank details then heard nothing so cancelled a bit worrying theres enough others so dont bother with this one
Jason from London on 2004-11-15 Rates them:
Stay away from this company. Out of the 3 dvds they said they sent I received only 1. Then they charged me for the full month even though I cancelled my membership. They should not be allowed to do this.
