DVDUnltd NZ Review |
Sky TV have recently acquired this company and plan on making a series effort in the DVD-by post market. DVD Unlimited is a New zealand based dvd rental service. This is an alternative to the other major NZ company. DVDUnltd have kept their site simple to use, with limited graphics so its fast-loading.
They offer a free 14 day trial. Remember if you wish to cancel to do so before the end of the trial.
Pricing is good with $35 allowing you to have 3 DVD's out at a time.

I just cancelled my subscription. I have constant problems with their DVDs, on average, I get every second disc that doesn't work. Whats worse, that it will play for the first hour, then the disc will stop working, at the most annoying time, half way through a movie! And I can confirm its not my machine as it plays other DVDs quite happily.
At least with a shop, you can head straight back and get another copy of the movie and continue watching. Here, at DVD unlimted, you're gonna have to wait a good 3 days if not more!
I wouldnt bother with this service again, quite frankly, I'm wouldn;t recommend the service. |

Although it started out fine the service rapidly deteriated with increasingly poor customer service false assurances and system faults continually affecting DVD distribution. Watch the advertised policies as some don't match actual practice. The postal delivery times seem excessive likewise the return postal time compared with normal post time to the same location. |

DVD Unlimited totally sucks. I’m currently on a 2-week trial period. I joined on 25th March 2006 and straight away 3 DVDs were sent to me. I got them 2 working days later on 28th March 2006. “OK, that was really fast”, I thought. I watched them that night itself and posted two of the DVDs the next morning (on 29th March 2006). Unfortunately, they didn’t arrive until today, 3rd April 2006. It took 4 working days for the two DVDs to arrive in Auckland! In addition, they’ve only sent me one DVD instead of two. I don’t think I’ll be going with DVD Unlimited. Oh yeah, did I mention one of the DVDs had coffee/tea stains on it and I had to clean to watch the movie? |

I have tried out all 3 companies and DVDUnld were easily the worst of the 3. Their turn around times were really poor and customr service seems to be no existent. fatso on the other hand have a great looking site and really good turn around and selection. I also used Movieshack for a while but found their site hard to get around and their selection was not that great. |

Ok after my free 2 week trial to "Movieshack", and signing up for a month, i started to see a slip in the time in which dvds were being sent to me. Once i sent back on a thursday morning and i didn't recieve then next 3 till next thursday. That is unacceptably long for a paying customer.
Fatso just sent me an email saying they now send via fastpost for people outside of Auckland, and to speed up other deliveries you can say on the website when you have returned the DVDs so they can send your next 3 faster.
As delivery speed is the most important thing for me, Fatso wins round 2.

This company has made a reasonable attempt to imitate the success of overseas online dvd rental companies but the selection is pretty limited in comparison to others eg fatso and their site is pretty no frills so not the same experience as the other sites as well. |
