EasyCinema Review |
The Easy company are known for their aggressive pricing, but this rebranded (i.e. powered by LoveFilm) service might appear slightly above average in costs, but then it depends on how many dvd's you rent a month anyway. Stelios greets you on the front page dressed in Royal Mail Uniform with hundreds of dvd's pouring out of his postbag. The site has improved from its intial design and I found it to be fast loading and easy to browse and search.
The actual service isn't unlimited in nature, its more based along the lines of 1 credit being equal to 1 rental. £1.99 a credit is actually not that expensive when you compare to offline video stores, so if it's convenience you are after this service (and similarly Amazon's) could be an option. You just buy credits, i.e. 4 for £7.96, 7 for £13.93 or 10 for £19.90. Click here to Visit EasyCinema

This company used to be very good at turning discs around, they used to use 1st class post both ways, then they changed to sending the discs out 1st class and retuning 2nd class, now its 2nd class both ways, which means you dont get the discs for 2-3 days, resulting in a very slow turn around, so the maximum discs you get a week is 3 discs, which is not to good as i watch a film nearly every night, but still the prices are better than the highstreet.... |

Maybe I should have read the T&C's more closely (below) but why, if they can keep my address on file, do unused credits have to expire after 90 days? Its just as easy to keep a record of a credit balance as an email address.
Frankly it seems shabby, more worthy of a con trick artist than a reputable business and, in my opinion, a company that makes the practice of credit expiration part of its business practice, particularly over a relatively short period of time, is hardly worth dealing with.
For a real belly laugh, the auto resonse to an email says that there may be a delay in replying as they are very busy. I just bet that they are, do you think its responding to all the letters of thanks and praise? I don't.
FROM THEIR SITE
"EXPIRY OF CREDITS
Each batch of credits must be used within 90 days of purchase. If you have not used all your credits within 90 days you must purchase a new batch of credits before we can send you any further DVDs. The expiry date of each batch of credits you purchase will not change. If you have more than one batch of credits in your account, those nearest to expiry will automatically be used first.
If you have not used up all your credits within 90 days and have selected the auto-top-up feature, your old credits will be deleted and your account will be topped up automatically with a new batch of credits.
If you still have credits in your account when you cancel they will remain valid for 90 days from the date they were first purchased and may be used if you reactivate your account before this period has expired."

I don't rent an amazing amount of DVDs so easyCinema's £1.99 seemed a good bet because I wasn't paying continuously every month.
Original easyCinema's service was provided by Screen Select. If this still was the case I would give them 10 stars.
Now that Screen Select has merged with LOVEFiLM, the turnaround time for DVDs have plummeted. But you do get a slightly bigger selection now.
If this was a perfect world Screen Select and LOVEFiLM would have never merged and I would still be enjoying a great service. But what can you do? |
