Jurassic DVD Review |
Jurassic DVD is a canadian rental company founded in 2003. A simplified website means it's an easy to use site. Their database of dvd's is very well organised with about 22 main genres and many subgenres. Search is really basic. There's no finding actors/directors/studios, it appears just to give dvd titles. Browsing the titles could be improved if they added a-z browsing as opposed to just number based browsing of search pages.
Pricewise, they are quite competitive with the popular 3 DVD's at a time package being only $16.99. Currently they have extended their normal 14 day trial to include a generous 7 extra days.
DVD's are sent from Victoria, so people in that state may find a trial of jurassicdvd to be well worth considering.

These people are thieves. I registered with them they reckoned they dispatched the dvds the next day.. after four days still nothing from .I emailed them but no replies. Then I cancelled out. They link up with SecPay which i believe form part of the thieves gang. They try to withdraw money from my account without my authorisation. Such transaction needs to be informed to the Police and Department of Trade industry. This web site needs to be closed down! I WOULD NOT RECOMMENT IT TO ANYBODY! The People who rated high stars work for them so beware. DONT SAY I DID NOT WANT U GUYS IF U DO SUBSCRIBE> The best Online services would be Lovefilm and Blockbuster. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND VERY GOOD TURNAROUND OF DVDS! IF i could rate this web site to a minus i would defintely give it a -Infinity

A FYI - JurassicDVD has been taken over by DVD-Rental.ca. They have been in operation since May 2003, and should provide you with hassle free (and fraud free) service, with 128 bit encryption on their credit card input pages.

I subscribed to this service mainly because they are close and because they listed alot of movies I could not find anywhere else. The bad news is that all the movies they claim to have in stock are never available, even alot of the new releases! It's as if they only have one of each movie in. The movies come extremely slow, even when you're located in the same town. When I wanted to quit, it took me quite a bit of a hassle to do so. It's extremely frustrating that they don't have mush of an online support and whenever I called their phone number, it was alwasys the machine. No call back after several messages were left. |

I tried this company for 4 months... service was very slow. I tracked some packages and they took 2-4 days in the mail, but his turnaround time between receiving DVDs and shipping the next batch is on the order of 3-8 days. I finally cancelled and they continued to charge my account despite cutting me off from further deliveries and access to the web site account. The fight is now with the credit card company for the 3 months that he charged me for no service. Now, he is claiming that the DVDs were not returned (all 5!) despite them being sent back in seperate shipments.
Beware! Jurassic DVD will defraud you, if they can find a way. Stay away from this fly-by-night operation!!! |

What the *uck- I signed up March 8th, he charged on my credit card the full amount of $23.53 on the 10th, I received 3 discs on the 15th, they received them back on the 22nd. It is now April 1st and nothing! No discs-nothing. Tried phoning, emailing-nothing. Where is this fricken guy? Paying $23.53 for 3 catalog titles? Ouch! |

Signed up for the free 3 week trial, Feb. 28 the movies where shipped on Mar.3 Recieved the movies fri. mar.11. I returned them the next day mar.12, e-mailed from Jurassic they had recieved the returned movies. I cancelled on Mar.20 by e-mail Jurassic replied the next day 21st, We are sorry to see you go! sign by Scott. recieved Visa statment Mar.29 , now shows Juassic DVD billed me on Mar.7 a sum of $18.18 ,
IS THIS WHAT A 3 WEEK FREE TRIAL IS with Jurrasic.
Called Scott left a voicemail, and no returned call.

I tried out Jurassic DVD's 3 week trial period, ordered 3 DVDs, shipping them back before the due date and wanted to cancel my account. They confirmed that the DVDs were received in time BUT NEVER REFUNDED THE $19.37 THAT THEY CHARGED TO MY ACCOUNT. I sent an e-mail, called many times, and left many messages asking for my money back! Nobody ever replied. I am now posting this feedback and will file a complaint with the local BBB. I am also checking with my bank about disputing the charge. Jurassic DVD is falsely advertising their trial period at best, and committing fraud at worst. Stay away!

My rating is actually not for the service, it's for their security. If you sign up with them now, all of your personal information, including credit card details, is transmitted across the 'Net in plain text! My strong recommendation is that you DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS SERVICE ONLINE until they address these issues.
I'll post another rating once they have taken this issue seriously and secured their servers. |

During the free trial, everything was alright; the DVDs arrived normally and smoothly, no delays. ONCE the trial period ended, problems started to show up with the service:
For one thing: I returned a DVD and the company claims to not have received it. Two weeks passed by, and still the DVD has not shown up; and this is sending from Vancouver to Victoria, a four hour trip. How can it mysteriously disappear?
For another problem: A defectively recorded DVD was shipped to me. COuldn't watch it as the DVD film skipped several times to different scenes (such a problem has never happened with other DVDs I have rented in the past). I complained to the company; normally a company will immediately send me a replacement on the same day of receiving the complaint. But NOT with Jurassic DVD. They said they would wait for the defective DVD to arrive first before sending out a replacement. Bad service.
Another problem: their toll free 1-800 customer service number is almost always non-operational. Call in the morning, afternoon, almost anytime, there is NO ONE answering. ONLY a machine asks for a message to be left.
Only one good thing: customer service through email is quick, prompt, and always responded to within 24 hours.
