MovieMine Review

MovieMine are a new entrant into the rental by post scene. Their site is the kind I like - fast loading, yet effective. Sure, it isn't the flashiest, but it is easy to navigate. Five rental options are provided with the 3 DVD's at a time offer being priced competitive at £14.99. If you join up, they don't have a free trial as such, but what they do is basically give you the first month half price. Ideal to see how they perform in the first month. A low cost option for those who only rent a handful per month is £6, entitling you to a total of 4 rentals.

When it comes to searching for movies, MovieMine have produced a well-thought out system. I like in particular the ability to see future releases by date, and various genres of film, including an excellent past Oscar winners section.

DVD's are posted from near Glasgow, ideal for those in central scotland.

MovieMine Customer Reviews
Scott from Edinburgh on 2006-09-29 Rates them:
I can only echo what everybody else has said. Moviemine have fantastic customer service - I emailed complaining about them sending more than one disk in a single envelope, so they sent me some spare envelopes and told me they'd send them out individually in future! Moviemine's downfall is the lack of new releases or popular titles you receive. Overall, definitely one of the best dvd rental companies and I'm quite happy to stick with them at the moment.
Mouse from South London on 2006-09-12 Rates them:
Tried them a little while ago. Site is nice and clean and fast. Service is generally very good. Unfortunately let down by lack of stock, very difficult to get hold of new/popular titles from them, and they seem to stock only mainstream stuff, no chance of a music video or anything slightly obscure.
myles from manchester on 2005-09-15 Rates them:
the most reliable company i have tried. we all know they carnt compete with screenslect and blockbuster on tittles but they do not lose points for that. moviemine has the best custmoer service i have ever scene. i carnt recall one time where they have not given sameday turnaround. I use moviemine for old films because i dont have sky and i have a 3 disc package with screenselect for brand new chart films. i know everyone wont get this good service but they are capable of it. I have to say this is the best dvd company around if you get on their good side. long live moviemine
Greg from London on 2005-09-07 Rates them:
An OK customer service, as they actually respond to your queries, but terrible DVD selection. I sat for 4 days without being sent even 1 DVD out, and eventually just asked for a refund and closed the account without even getting started! If you're after loads of older DVD's and have 50+ in your wishlist, they may be worthwhile.
Rob from Nottingham on 2005-07-21 Rates them:
Reasonably priced service that has sameday turnaround, but they can be slow to send out new titles and they have a limited supply of older titles, especially old tv series. Saying that I have tried several other companies, lovefilm, global e-rental, moviechoices and screenselect and find that Moviemines consistent reasonable service is far better than the brilliant service promised by others while under the free trial which rapidly declines to a terrible and slow service afterwards.
David from Glasgow on 2005-06-21 Rates them:
Great site, easy to use. Great customer service. They have even added several titles at my request. Fantastic turnaround times that have not tapered off, only delay is postal time. To be recommended. To the people who can't get registered, keep trying they are well worth it.
Marty from London on 2005-02-19 Rates them:
I believe there is no free 14 day trial, it's a first month half-price offer.
Victor from Manchester on 2004-10-08 Rates them:
Great layout easy site to use. I have watched 18 DVDs in my second month and the service was great. They even added a TV series I had requested.
Brian from Glasgow on 2004-08-24 Rates them:
Follow up to my previous post-they emailed me thanking for my comments & screen dump of the error message.
This "enabled them to identify the error faster" apparently.
They signed me up and have given me an extra week on the 14 day free trial.
HOWEVER-of the first two discs I received, one was scratched so badly it wouldn't play!
Not to be recommended.

What a site!!
Great layout, good choice-Oh wait, I CAN'T EVEN GET SIGNED UP FOR THE FREE TRIAL!!!!
I tried FIVE times to sign up for this one-they are based in my hometown,so I thought it may be a good shot.
I wouldn't waste my time trying.
Every time you get to the payment processing for your card details, the payment server crashes.
I've emailed them to find out why,but if this is how bad it is at the start, just imagine later!!
