I joined for a months free trial, service and library of DVD's was good. But chose not to continue after the free trial. I cancelled 3 days before the end, but was a week late getting the final DVD back. They charged me for another months service....then another month on that, until I contacted them and reminded them that I had cancelled my sub and all DVD's had been returned. They offered me 2 months free service but no refund, and a quote from the fine print (we don't do refunds). I feel ripped off. |

Joined Movieshack as part of Ihug's promotions. Was pretty unimpressed by the amount of time it took between sending DVDs back and getting new ones, so I chose to cancel my membership.
Posted my 3 DVDs back on Saturday - together - membership renewal date was listed as Sunday.
On Tuesday the next week they sent me an email saying I'd sent an extra couple of DVDs back by mistake. (I'd included one each in two of the covers, by mistake)
On _Wednesday_ got an email telling me they'd received 1 (of the three posted on the same day) DVDs (wasn't one of the ones with the extra DVDs)
A week later they sent me an email telling me that I'd recorded 2 DVDs as having been returned to them, but they hadn't got them yet.
TWO WEEKS later they sent me an email saying they'd got the last two DVDs and my membership was now cancelled.
The next day they sent me an email telling me that I had 0 DVDs in my queue.
Honestly, don't bother. The turn-around time is pathetic, and they don't seem to have anybody processing returns over the weekend. (unlike your local video shop) They don't even have console games to rent either. |

Well I decided to join all three companies giving me a free week trial. Out of all of them Movieshack was the only company who sent me DVDs the following day. I was wrapped with the service and even sent them a nice comment on their service. I too only received 2 envelopes with my 3 disks and after a panic I was told by Movieshack that the envelopes can fit up to 3 at a time. Friendly and prompt service. My trial ends in 2 days time and Im wondering whether to carry on or not. As for the other two competitors I cancelled them after 3 days joining. Fatso is the next best one and DVDS unlimited-all that glitz and glamour but service-thumbs down.By the way I average 9 discs a week with Movieshack!! |

I was first with DVDUnl and found them to be ok, but when I tried Movieshack the service went up by so much. The delivery was excellent, getting new movies the day after sending one back. DVDUnl seemed pretty unmotivated to improve service when querying the lack of deliveries. I found it difficult to seperate Movieshack and Fatso for delivery and chose MS because of the ability to prioritise my list. |

Really impressed. Range is varied and should suit all types. more variety than your average dvd store and saving so much money! On average receive three mailings per week, love that they send out before they receive. would recommend to anyone |

The postage is'nt to bad so far i've been with movieshack about 2 months and i've watched about 50+ DVD's so i'm pretty wrapped, would be good to get some of the series DVD's in one go though. AAAAA+++++ :O) |

I ended up choosing movieshack because none of the others allow payment by direct debit. For people who don't have, or don't wish to use, a credit card, Movieshack is the only game in town (NZ), at least afaik. |

This is a brilliant service. The delivery speed is sooo fast, and you can tell them online when you've posted back your dvds and they will post out the next ones before they receive the previous ones back. The discs have been in good condition. Their web site is easy to navigate and you can swap items in the queue if you want. |

I have tried out all 3 companies and Movieshack came out ok but not great. I found their site hard to get around and their selection was not that great. DVDUnld were easily the worst of the 3. The best service was easily fatso. They have a much better looking suite that is easy to get around and a better selection than the others. |

Great concept and i like the envelops they send the disks in which have a description of the dvd on it. unlike the blank cases of the competitors. But unfortunately i was trialing fatso and dvdunlimited at the same time and movieshacks delivery speed to hamilton didn't compare to fatso's. Also i was only sent 2 return envelops with my 3 disks and didn't realise until it was time to send the 3rd back. i contacted them and they said to just buy and envelope and stamp, or wait for the next 2 to be posted and send it back with them! very poor service i thought for a company with so much direct competition. So its fatso for me :) |

I tried them all - Fatso, dvd unlimited and movieshack, and movieshack is the best.
The other two are very similar and the website design and que system is obviously set up by the same web design system.
DVD unlimted has the most confusing website layout, excessively cluttered with useless functions. It reminds me of hotmail (probably because sky and msn owns them).
Fatso is slightly user friendly.
The movieshack website goes for simplicity - and it wins me over. It remins me of google's gmail.
But the shortcoming of both fatso and dvdunlimited is that if a dvd has a bonus disc, they will count it as 2 dvds. I emailed movieshack and this is what they said:
"All movies/tv series that are a part of a set are sent out individually. In the case of Star Wars, each disc in the trilogy would count towards your disc plan.
We do however make an exception with bonus discs and movies that are on two DVD discs - these only count as 1 disc in total towards your plan (as we consider them complimentary and necessary to the first disc).
Should you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask!
Thanks,
Movieshack"
Moivieshack has excellent customer response times - i emailed them three times in a day and they responded within 20 minutes! Also very friendly as you can see above. I would recommend Movieshack over the others. |

I found the service to be amazing and fast. I joined up on Friday and had movies for Saturday. And it has continued to be a 1 - 2 day turnaround. For convenience factor it rocks. No more going to the video shop when you can't be assed leaving the couch. A little bit of planning can see you with entertainment for the whole weekend without ever needing to leave home. |

Movieshack is great little company with a big heart. Unfortunately it's delivery speed lets it down, I signed on for one month to test things out and in that time I averaged 3 discs per week. With movieshacks competitor, I averaged 9 discs per week.
So with service plans at exactly the same price, movieshack lost the race and I have continued with their rival. |
