Awful company - appalling selection of movies, most of which are ancient. New ones are simply shown to taunt you, because if you put them in your list you will never ever get it even if you listed the movie as top priority. They pretty much force you to always have 15 titles in your list, so that they can avoid sending you recent titles and send you the older ones.
As a bait, they promise you a free gift on sign up which never arrives (mine didn't in 3 months) and if you ask about it, you always get a template e-mail saying your 'free gift' has been delayed.
This has happened to many others. They take your switch card and debit from it in a way which you can never cancel by asking your bank, you can only cancel via a convaluted process on the MMS site. Then they conveniently 'lose' one of your dvd's so that when you cancel you have to continue paying membership as long as the disc is missing! Even though the two issues should be completely separate.
Customer service is similar - they clearly believe that promising a non-existent free gift, keeping taking your money despite your cancelation, and offering a paltry selection of titles is not a problem.
Please read up on Google as to all the people that have suffered from bad service from this company - don't join! |

Would never deal with them again.. They used to be good before we moved house.

Money grabbers !!
Very crafty in that you can only "cancel" your account online when in fact all it does is freeze it. They then send you a "confirmation email" and then next month charge you for another months subscription as they claim they have sent disks out to you. Don't bother filling in the lost disc forms as it gets you no where! Is a waste of time talking to them as they - well I say they, but it seems to be the same guy every time - are very rude, unprofessioanl and extremely unhelpful !!!!!!
Took me 6 months to get my money back ... £90 for 3 supposed lost discs.
Then they have the cheek to send me an email saying they miss me and they want me to come back .. well .. we all know the answer to that one !!!!!!!!!!!! |

I have, to my knowledge cancelled my account more than a year ago. A year later, Moviesteam sent me some Lost Disc Form to fill in, which I did and sent back to them within the 7 days or how many days period. I remember clearly it was within the period.
and then a month or so later, Moviesteam took £90.00 from my account and refund back almost the same time.
and a further few months later, Moviesteam sent me the Lost Disc Form again, which I sent back to them again with a letter saying I have already completed the forms and submitted to them before.
And today, having check my account, I notice they have taken £180.00 from my bank account. What on earth are they doing?
This is completely unauthorise and I am very angry with this. I have no notification whatsoever. Do they think they can just take money from people's accounts as they like.
the WORST company you could have.
I have used LoveFilm before and such experience never happen. Discs have never been lost.
I think Moviesteam should really work on their orgainisation
I think we should inform Watch Dog, if there is enough people |

I was a returning customer to these, I have swapped around a few times and they had been the best, I stopped for about a year due to personal reasons and decided as they were so great I would return to them.
I found their service while you had them ok, you got a reasonable amount through the post and every now and then even one from your top 20.
Then it came to cancelling, (im in and out of the country with work so there is no point in getting the dvds) and Oh my god do they change.
Firstly there was the cancellation process. You cannot cancel while you have disks, so you send them back and canel as soon as they registered as received, I got the confirmation email (which I printed). A week later 3 disks land on my doorstep. I return these (recorded) and phone up to explain. (oh if you listen there are only 2 people work there the guy is the one on the answer phone and a woman. doesnt matter which option you take its the same 2 people)
Two months later I get two months payment taken out of my bank, (They use POS on your card rather than direct debit so the only way to stop them is to change your card) I phone up argure send the copy of the cancellation and the proof the disks had been returned and they finally after a lot of arguements and being treated rudely got my money back.
Nothing for six months, then £120 is taken from my account, I phone up and am told "its because 5 disks were reported lost" i ask if five was lost why take the money for four (£30 each) They say send the lost disk forms out and they will refund.
I did this and instead of getting my money back get more forms now for films I had never had, more phone calls and abuse from their customer services.
To cut it short they have changed their number of lost disks from 3 to 13 and various numbers in between.
I eventually went to the Office of Fair Trading and have finally got my money back after 3 months of fighting.
These guys lie cheat and blatently steel. If they approach me again or attempt to take any money from me I will go for a restraining order against them. |

Have I just been really lucky, or do people only come here to moan?
I've had a great experience with this lot. *MUCH* better than LoveFilm and BlockBuster. To be honest the service levels did drop off earlier this year, and one week I got nothing at all to watch, but that seems to be fixed now. Plus I phoned their customer service at the time and got a free week!
Amazing fast turnaround, (apart from that one blip) they never keep me waiting.
I have a big list of titles and don't much care what I watch, so couldn't really say if I get top-of-list titles or not as it doesn't matter to me. |

Recently rejoined and my have they plummeted, I never got any disk in my top 20, It took nearly 2 weeks sometimes for them to receive disks, I eventually cancelled (which the keep the remaining months money if you cancel mid month unlike blockbuster who refund the daily amount outstanding).
I had a email confirming the cancellation but the have continued to take the money from my account. I have currently had to cancel my card as they keep charging me and am now trying to get the wrongly taken money back off them.

Be careful with this company.
I cancelled as I was getting very poor service, and they continued to take money, as they dont set up a direct debit you cannot stop them processing transactions.
After I finally got my money back they have now taken money out of my account claiming for lost disks (a pack of three went mossing and I have filled the forms out) I am currently in the process of filing to the small claims court to get the money back and have reported the to the bank as they are illegally using the card details that have.

Firstly, I'm amazed by the number of moans there are on this site! Moviestream gets the most stars here from you voting system, but all the companies seem to have mostly complaints and seems like a lot of people expect something for nothing. Lighten up people - online DVD rental is a great value way to watch movies!!!
I'm from the US and loved Netflix back home, so I wanted to get movies by mail when we moved here in 2006. I tried a couple of sites for 2-3 months and they were OK I guess, then found Moviestream and I have to say that they have been great - certainly on a par with Netflix.
Delivery/Turnaround is slick, with emails telling you when DVDs are returned and dispatched, and I often get titles from the top of the list. Plus they have a guide showing which titles are in demand which I find useful. I'm on the 3-disc unlimited deal and get through about 10 movies a month on average, no problem. Service slowed a bit when my list ran down to just a few titles, but they emailed to add more.
The website is OK, although the search could be better. Been with them about 9 months now and on the few occasions I've called with a minor problem or query they were very nice and helpful. Had a couple of deliveries of 3 discs each go missing and they replaced them immediately at no charge - just asked me to fill in a form for the royal mail.
Have recommended them to several friends (and earnt myself free months for doing so) and they are pleased with it too.
I say ignore the moaners! Try them for yourselves and make up your own mind.

The rudest customer services manager ever. They obviously cocked up on their 'free dvd' introductory offer, tried to get us to swap to a free month's rental instead. I agreed to this more than once, but they just kept charging. No response to my emails. When I spoke to a moronic woman about it all she could do was repeat her mantra that they don't do refunds. I will be taking them to the small claims court on principle. I have never felt less like a valued customer.
They are slow to send stuff out, and they don't send the things at the top of the list. in fact it sems entirely random so there's no point in ranking them. I hope no one else will do business with them. |

Uncompativly poor from start to finish. I joined on a month long promotion with discount for the following year but found that I just didn't have time to watch the movies they were sending so returned the discs and cancelled. They refused to acknowledge the receipt of the last discs I sent until a postal certificate was obtained. In fairness this is mentioned on the website but when I asked how I could sort out my error, I was told they had cancelled my account. A week later I noticed they had taken a months payment from my account, I wrote asking for a refund as they had cancelled my account. They denied the refund. I responded with another email commenting that I thought it was very underhand to take payment while cancelling my account without giving me the opportunity to use the month they had taken payment for. They responded by re-activating my account without my permission and sent me more discs. 4 or 5 emails later I have managed to stop dvd's being sent but they still refuse to cancel my account unless I send them the postal certificate that I have already faxed to them once. I have no doubt that they will charge me for another month even though I have not used the service in the last four weeks.
They never answer a straight forward question and the customer service phone line is pathetic.

Glen from Luton on 2007-04-28 Rates them:
*almost* perfect. Unlike many other people, I didn't try to get 30 free rentals during the trial - having been around a bit, I had more realistic expectations. My first two disks (numbers two and four on my list) turned up the day after I joined. The "we've just sent you..." notice is a nice touch. It took me a few days to get around to watching these, eventually getting them back in the post on Saturday. Monday morning I got the "we received" emails (I really like these), followed a couple of hours later by the next round of "we've sent" ones. True to promise, they turned up the next day. No other company (and I *have* tried them all by now) has managed same-day turnaround. I was interesting to see what would happen once I became a paying customer, and I have to report... nothing! It all carried on as usual, the service was just the same. Have now been with them for four paying months, and the service hasn't slacked off at all. Granted, I'm not a heavy user, maybe eight or ten films a month, but I really can't fault them.... so why not 10 out of 10 stars? Well, for the service to be rated that high, there would have to be no room for improvement. And of course there always is - I didn't get numbers one and two off my list on the first shipment. Not fair, maybe? Do we really expect these companies to carry truly unlimited stock of expensive new-release titles? Maybe. But if they'd managed that, they would have got top score. As it is, I'm happy enough - I still get titles from the top of my list (or near enough), and their availability guide at least gives me a hint about how long I'm likely to be in the queue. I get value for money, and enjoy their service. No reason for me to try anywhere else, besides I've already done that, and MMS are pick of the crop. |

Careful. I joined on a free trial and they debited my card before it was up!! In the first week they sent me great new realeases. Obviously to try to tie me in. But in the 2nd & 3rd week, they took ages to send me any DVD's and the only ones that came were ones at the end of my list. Now they are refusing to give my money back.
Very dissappointing. Hopefully, there are better ones out there. |

I was this company for around 5 months or so. At first, as with a lot of others here, all went well. Gradually however it all started going pear shaped after around 2 months. I kept qabout 40 titles in my list, obviously I added new titles as and when they became available. MyMoviestream however kept trying to send me all the old stuff (which we had either already seen or was on the Tv anyway) by refusing to send us any Dvd's at all because we had not included the minimum of 5 titles which were, in their words, 'available now'. These title are of coarse all the old stuff. They were available because everyone had obviously already seen them! When we complained they kept repeating that not eeryone could have the new releases. Our problem was that we never had ANY new releases. I think that their stock is far to small if this company want's to expand further. They just do not appear to comprehend that we did not wish to pay £15 per month for stuff that we had already seen. Surely the point of postal Dvd's is that IT IS the new releases that everyone requires, otherwise we would all subscribe to Sky or the suchlike. Needless to say we cancelled our subscription and now receive begging emails inviting us to return. We get our titles back in our local Dvd shop now. Works out just as cheap actually. Downside is we have to get and return them, normally within 2 days or so. |

Just cancelled my account before my first month ends. Have tried all the competition. Have just finished with Lovefilm prior to Xmas and what a horrible experience.
As for My Movie Stream, it was quite the opposite to all the others. With Blockbuster I got three new releases evey Monday as they came out. I signed up to MMS after reading the reviews. As soon as I signed up my top three were picked. Great I thought. Got 6 disks the first week. The following week 1 new release 2 older ones, the week after that 1 new release one older one, again the week after. This week one new release on Monday, the 2nd and 3rd disks were never picked. All week I have waited. I had 60titles in my queue ranging from this week to titles released last September. I even added things from the available list but these showed up as meduim wait (2-4 weeks) I don't see much point paying for titles I do not really one or have already seen. I cannot criticise the service or customer services, I think their stocks are limited. I have found Blockbuster best overall, but again the releases tailed off after a few months. That's all I can say, hope others find it of use. Maybe someone else has had similar experience. |

Been with them a few months. Usual story: excellent service during the promotional period, then the service starts to suffer. I tend to rent more obscure stuff, so when they are sending out discs, I don't have to wait all that long. Price seems reasonable, so I'll put up with it for a few months, but I won't be staying
The website is fast, but a bit annoying. The search is rather strange: I got Fawlty Towers and The Fast Show Live among others when searching for thrillers, it seems to ignore genre. You end up just putting random words in and trawling through the long list given. Also, you end up relying on the recommendations more, though even here you get some pretty random stuff: Seeds of Chucky next to My Best Friend's Wedding! |

I've been with MMS for about 6 months now, and the service has always been faultless. I get through about 18 disks per week (yeah, I'm a heavy user), and they haven't throttled me once. I can't recommend them highly enough. I very often get disks from the top of my list (short/long wait, etc, obviously take a while longer to come), and the turnaround is great - usually the same day. Great turnaround (just under 50 rentals in 1 month on the 6 at a time deal), however most of the dvd's sent were from the bottom of my list, so if you are like me and can watch the films and get them back in the post the same day forget about getting any top titles and be prepared for the service to go rapidly downhill once the older available now titles on your list have all been sent. |

I have been using Online DVD Rental companies for the last 18 months (ScreenSelect, Lovefilm, Sainsbury's DVD Rental, Blockbusters, and for the last 9 months MyMovieStream).
For the first 6 months MyMoviestream supplied a good mixture of top selection and lower selection movies from my list, and all was well. Recently I have only been receiving lower selection dvd, and then last week it no disks were sent even though I have 50+ titles in mylist, they were all seemed to be unavailable.
As with all DVD rental companies I have dealt with. The initial period you’re treated like royalty, once they think you are settled they give you a poorer service.
My advice is to definitely use MyMovieStream. But when the service turns sour, have no remorse moving on...

I've been with Mymoviestream for a few months and they are very good. I was with the awful lovefilm before and I would never go back! MMS will post you a new DVD as soon as they receive one back-there is no "throttling" like with some other companies. Their website is quirky-some people say cartoon-like but I like it. Letting you know which films are available now and which you'll have to wait for is a great feature.

I joined Mymoviestream when it was pretty new and it was fantastic. I used to use Lovefilm and got very frustrated at never getting what was on the top of my list. Mymoviestream did not let you pre-order so when a film came out on a monday you could get a copy fairly easily. They have changed this system now and have also become more popular so I am back to the stage where I NEVER get the dvd's at the top of my list. I will probably leave this company soon as they are not delivering the service I pay for. |

They started fine during the free period. I have now had the last 3 shipments either be delayed or lost, and I don't believe that it's a problem with Royal Mail. The last two emails have been ignored, or they chose not to respond, and the email before that the service rep insisted on arguing with me because they said I had only have 3 problems. I reminded them that I didn't send an email the first time (it took 10 days) because I didn't realize I was going to be required to track a problem pattern for them. I wouldn't recommend them; there's no way to get in touch with them except by email. |

I've been with MMS now for about 8 months or more. To start with, they rocked - exceptionally fast turnaround and almost always your priority selections came first. Within the last 6 weeks though, the experience has completely turned around - I now routinely get movies 17th-20th or so in my list and the turnaround has slowed. I enquired about this with customer support only to get a stock reply about 'balancing priorities against high users in fairness to all users'. Hmmm, sounds like the bad old experience so many of us have had with other companies. A victim of their own success? |

Used My Moviestream for over 12 months and up to this week have had fantastic service.Same day turnround and always discs from top of list(If you get new releases on your lisl Monday AM).Sent my 3 discs back last weekend and 2 were received by them Monday but no allocation of new discs was made.On Tuesday I queried this by e-mail and was told that they now employ a fair policy where heavy users!(I get 6 discs a week)May have allocation delayed.I checked Terms and Conditions but there is no mention of changes. They finally stated that 3 discs had been despatched Tuesday but none received so far.Won't be staying long if matters do not improve.Any one else had problems recently? |

I got p***ed off with screenselect (slow) and then lovefilm (even slower) and tried my movie stream due to comments here and on other sites - been with them 3 months now and so far very good.
Main thing is very fast delivery and they send top choices most of the time. Website is more basic than lovefilm, but I'd rather get dvds sent to me than stare at a pretty website! Hope they keep it up. |

I was a loyal Screenselect customer for about 6 months when their service started going downhill. For e.g., they deliberately pretend not to have received your DVDs until 1 day has elapsed, and only send out the subsequent DVDs after 1 day on the grounds that it is processing time. In short, you get only a max of 3 discs per week. In addition, I also have to wait for months and still there is no sight of any new movie releases being sent to me.
I tried out MyMoviestream ('MMS') based on the other reviews. I must say that the turnaround for MMS is the equivalent (or even better!) than Screenselect in the old days. They process your returned DVDs on the same date of receipt. This means that you get a max of 6 discs per week!
In addition, you consistently get the latest releases regardless of whether you are a free trialist or paying subscriber. |

Very good service so far after 2 months, delivery is very fast, next day usually.
Also, customer service by email is very efficient. They reply to your email the same day. |

Joined up after dissapointing experiences with other companies. First couple of months were excellent. Fast turn around, and in general excellent service. However in the past few weeks everything seems to be going down hill.
Sometimes discs "don't arrive" with them for days. Sometimes its been 48-72hrs between them receiving a disk and them dispatching the next. My selection list is over 100 discs long so its not as thought there isn't plenty of discs they could send me.
I've emailed them a number of times regarding my concerns but as yet not a single response.
I only hope things get back to normal soon, or I'm going to need to take my business elsewhere. |

The best DVD rental company I have used so far. I began renting DVDs by post in December 2004 and have used the main companies. I have been with Mymoviestream since early Nov 2005 and I am on the 3 dusc package at £14.99 per month, which is not the cheapest, however at present it is the best company I have used, their website might not have the wow factor like some of the others but at the end of the day I get the DVDs that I choose. I have not had to wait very long at all for the top titles compared with some of the other more well known companies that I was with. Also at the moment all DVDs sent to me have arrived, none have gone missing in the post which has happened in the past with other DVD rental companies. So at present although I could shop around and go with another company and save about a £1 a month,I am happy to pay and stay with mymoviestream. Lets hope thye keep up the good work and don't let me down. Recommended by me ! |

I spent a considerable amount of time reviewing the different rental companies and chose mymoviestream as they appeared to get the best ratings across different websites.
I registered and set up my movie list two days ago and the website has shown no discs as dispatched. I wasn't expecting to receive the disks immediately, but I was expecting to see that disks had at least been selected for dispatch.
The website lacks functionality and useful information, but I knew that before signing up. I was prepared to put up with the nice-looking, but under-functional interface, but feel that this has been unsatisfactorily worsened due to fairly regular website ODBC errors.
As a new customer, I am definitely not impressed and wish that I'd chosen a more mainstream provider. I emailed mms yesterday to see what is going on and when I will see movement on my account, but have heard nothing back yet. |

So far so good, have been with amazon and tesco, amazon were fine but limited to 6 a month and tesco were not upto scratch. So this latest venture has been delightful, they have superb turnaround. Not keen on the envelopes as they don't seem to protect the dvd's that well but have had none broken. I am a movie holic so i hope they keep up this excellent service. Top Banana's. |

The best I have tried. Fast turnaround. Some come with extras disc as one selection. Blockbuster would be second. Lovefilm and their unlimited but you can only have 3 discs a week are the worst. |

brilliant. really , really fast service. i joined at 3pm on the weds and 3 dvd's arrived the next morning. another great thing, really good envelopes to send them back in, which do not break or tear.
as others have said the website could do with a polish as it is sometimes hard to browse or find exact films other than that awesome. |

Just wanted to agree with everyone here. I did Movie Stream's free trial and was blown away by the turnaround. Discs were booked back in and new ones sent on the same day - excellent stuff.
I would have been more than happy to give them my money if I didn't have to move house in a month :o)
My only concern is what will happen when they start to grow and become popular ??

Started very well with fast turnround and films always from top of list.Seems to have deteriorated recently since introduction of "short wait"category. All top films seem to be short wait and am now getting more and more from bottom of list.Still very speedy turnround though. |

WE HAD BEEN WITH A COUPLE OF OTHER RENTAL COMPANIES BEFORE BUT NONE AS GOOD AS MOVIE STREAM. GOOD FREE TRIAL, SO FAR NO DISCS THAT WE HAVE RENTED HAVE BEEN SCRATCHED OR IN BAD CONDITION, TURNAROUND IS FAST, WEBSITE EASY TO USE AND WE ARE KEPT WELL INFORMED OF RETURNS AND DESPATCHES. NICE ONE, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! |

Outstanding turn-arounds on discs. Also when I had 2 discs go missing in the post they re-posted then discs and extended my trial to make up for it.
Their website isn't great and lacks the functionality of other DVD rental sites but they are working on updating it now.
I assume as MyMovieStream is a new company, their stock numbers greatly exceed the number of discs being requested which is why it's so easy to get fast turn arounds and your top choices (almost every time!) We'll see how things pan out once they hit the same levels as their competitors. |

Speedy turnaround, good selection,Movie availability column in your list, polite customer service staff, fair price, truly unlimited service. This is what we came to expect from rental companies which then died a death, but these guys are restoring the faith.
OUTSTANDING. |

Excellent.
I can honestly say, that I have been with all the others and I've never had satisfaction like this before.
Turnaround time is FAST and I always receive discs from the top of my list.
My only gripe is that their web site could do with some improvements, but this is a small price to pay for a fantastic service.
Great value for money and in my opinion, they are in a class of their own.
If they can keep this up, they will be getting my money every month.

In my opinion, MyMovieStream are the BEST dvd rental company out there at the moment.
I took them up on their free 2 week trial and I was so impressed, that I decided to stay with them.
Unlike all the others who make false claims about being unlimited.....MMS really are unlimited.
They also send out discs from the top of the list and this includes all the recent releases.
They can't get the discs out quick enough, so from a customers point of view....this is service at it's best.
TOP OF THE LEAGUE !!!
