I agree with Kimberley. I've been with them for a few months, and lately none of the DVDs in my top 15 are being posted. I'm continually forced to add crap to the bottom of my list, just to keep it above 20 titles, otherwise they would send me nothing at all.
Bigpond movies is looking very attractive |

Where shall I start...so much is wrong with this service that I could spend hours typing this review. The teaser period was great but once they've sucked you in then you never get top picks and when you try to bring this to their so-called customer service line all you get is excuses in a "take it or leave it" tone. As for new releases, well, Adam got it right - "new releases" in Quickflix lingo is very different from the ordinary meaning of the phrase. I could keep going...very slow delivery, scratched discs yada yada ... never again. |
Jeremy from Sydney on 2007-11-18 Rates them:
Slick and easy to use website which also recomends titles to watch. I found delivery to be fast-- typically next day. Quickflix is great for obscure titles and i love the fact that as movies come to the cinema i can reserve them through Quickflix, so that when they're out to DVD they just arrive in my letterbox. The best online rental service by far. |
Adam from Perth on 2007-11-06 Rates them:
We tried them for 3 months - and cancelled promptly.
First of all, their "New releases" category is quite different to what you would see at your local DVD store. By New Release they actually mean "newley released on their dvd catalogue" which means a lot of them are actually very old movies 2005, 2004, etc. So when your trying to browse for a new release, you get one or two and loads of other junk youve already seen.
Secondly, you only get movies sent to you from your top queue items in the first month (to draw you in). After that you rarely get anything above number 10 because they simply do not have enough DVDs to let everyone get their choice.
They say to keep your list with at least 20 movies in it at all times - but could you even go to a movie store and pick 20 new movies you would want to watch?? I doubt it.
Thirdly, delivery times are long. If you watch your movies over the weekend, send them back on Monday, you will likely only get your replacement movies on Thursday or Friday. That means your in a weekly cycle. On that note, I find it easier to just go to my local dvd store once a week.
I would NOT recommend this to anyone. |

I find Quickflix website great to use, really straightfoward with such a large range of dvd's to choose from. I love the turn around time in the mail monday, movies on Wednesday ready for the weekend! |

OMG George, do you work for them or something!? They are shocking. Slow delivery + Never getting above pick 10 + damaged DVD's = Really @#$% awful service. |

Quickflix is by far the best way to rent DVDs. No hassle, fast efficient service and the best thing for me is no late fees! I joined a couple of months ago after a bad experience at my local video store who are still chasing me for DVDs I had already taken back. I love to watch my favouite TV shows on DVD in my own time. Quickflix has a fantastic range of both TV and movie titles. |
George from Sydney on 2007-02-28 Rates them:
I have to say that delivery is quite impressive. I don't know how they do it, but I'm very happy with the service. The site is really easy to use and I love the foreign film selection. |

Love the Quickflix service. I've been a member for the last 9 months and watched over 200 movies-- turnaround is slick. I had to contact their customer service when I had a problem with my credit card and they sorted it out without treating me like an idiot. Happy to recommend them. |
Anand from Sydney on 2007-02-06 Rates them:
They are a bit dodgy. I normally watch a movie a day so naturally the unlimited cap seems like a dream come true but they have worked around it. In the free trial period time I got all the DVDs on time and they acknowledged them the very next day i posted it, since their receiving address is in Sydney. After I joined it went well for the first few weeks but the funny business started. They would notify me that they have sent me 3 discs but I would only receive 2 the next day. After some time this became 1 the next day and the other 2 over the next 2 days. Now its like they wont acknowledge the movies I sent (so I cant pre-notify them). Even if I send say 3 discs on the same day from the same post box, they will only acknowledge them one at a time. And this has happened every single time.
So effecively they have reduced my 3 DVD unlimited cap to a 1 DVD limited cap.

Great selection and easy to navigate |

Worst online DVD company ever!!! Service is really bad and turnaround time to get dvd's delivered is ridiculous. DVD's will go missing in the mail. Quickflix hold no responsibility and they will charge you full price for them. Marcus the member service manager doesnt care about their customers or in giving them a fair deal. |
Nick from Sydney on 2006-11-21 Rates them:
DON'T sign up for Quickflix. I got sucked into a 'free trial', DVDs took more than a week to arrive, didn't get any new releases. Canceled my membership but was a bit slow to return my DVDs, they charged me $60 for the two DVDs and after I returned them they wouldn't refund anything, not even the difference if I had been a member. Customer Service were pleasant enough but I don't think they really care about their customers or giving them a fair deal. |

Well, I have to say that after trying Bigpond for more than 6 months, I'm quite impressed with Quick Flix. First, you can speak to real people when you have a problem and second, my unlimited plan is really "unlimited" - no cap, thanks. |

My personal experience of Quickflix has been great-- I get to watch diverse movies I cannot come across at the vid store. I'm a bit suss about some of the entries posted on this forum knocking Quickflix because its nothing like what our family experiences. These look bogus to me-- quite possibly posted by competitors. Ho hum-- give Quickflix a go and find out for yourseld |

Worst online DVD company ever!!! Service is really bad and turnaround time to get dvd's delivered is long (took us 9 days to receive our first DVD)... Anyway I wont waste anymore time on this. Just try it out for yourself if you don't believe it. Give it another go... don't think so, there are better providers of this service... |

Bad! In our first month we didn't get any of our top 15 choices. Decided to cancel, but my wife went into labor early and I was busy looking after her and our other child. I cancelled my plan 1 day too late but got billed $36 for the next month but will receive NO dvds. I rang them and tried to explain my situation, they were not interested. Go with Bigpond instead! |
Andrew from Sydney on 2006-04-22 Rates them:
Good range of DVDs listed on the website, but so SLOW! Why on earth does it take 4 business days to a post something within the Sydney area? Hopeless. Also, the website is full of bugs. Some links are dead, very poor. I originally signed up to Homescreen who apparently were absorbed by this mob. Not a happy customer any more! |

Much slower than Netflix or Blockbuster. Extremely poor customer service. Tried all of them and am returning to Netflix for superior inventory, delivery times and customer support. |

Not much to like about Quicktrix, had a missing DVD for many months that never arrived to my postal address, they did not resolve, so only sent me 2 DVDs when I was paying for 3 DVDs, and then they had the nerve to charge me for the disc they didnt send. Do not use Quicktrix. |

These guys are the best, the other comments are misguided and pretty rude. V2Direct were crap. Homescreen and Bigpond ok, but quickflix impressed me with their great customer serivce and also there huge range. I am staying with them. |

I tried Quickflix and to be honest found them no better than any of the others. As for the only one that allows you to rank titles in order (Helen's quote) that is not true as most others have this feature. I have tried them all now to see who is the best. I currently use another provider based in melbourne mainly because there delivery time is quicker and they have games. |
Aaliyah from Sydney on 2004-09-23 Rates them:
Signed up for the free trial, created a list of over 20 dvds, and it still took me over a week to receive just one dvd. If this is what their turn around time is like, I am definitely not going to sign up. |

@stephen, your comments regarding John's postings have been sent to v2direct Personally as a customer of v2 and receiving great service from this company I found your remarks unwarrented. In the limited correspondance with v2 I can tell you I have received emails from Brian and Mark, no John.
Negative comments should be welcomed so you can rectify problems yes? |

From the Quickflix Project Director: In response to the entry on showing that DVDs are in the mail, this is now available and active on the site - so members can tell us when they have posted a DVD back, and we can send them the next one without waiting for the first one to arrive back. This has certainly reduced the turnaround time between discs, and the member feedback so far has been very positive! |
David from Melbourne on 2004-08-30 Rates them:
The slowest out of the three companies I tested. I found the website lacked some standard features such as the ability to show that the dvds where in the mail. |

On Quickflix. I like their website way better..they have a good layout and its easy to find things. A positive point is their ability to order DVDs from 1 down. You get the ones you want more often than the lower marked ones. Their envelopes are great too, the plastic sleeve is good. I live in perth so the delivery was 1-2 days, pretty good, some came from Sydney too. I give them a fantastic mark for their customer service. I emailed them at 9am and got a reply in about 10 minutes.

I've tried a few of the main companies in this area, and this one is easily the best. Totally disagree with the negative customer service comments, this company actually makes the effort to respond to every enquiry. Pretty slick website, and the ONLY service that actually allows you to RANK your list of DVDs in order of preference! |

Quickflix has distribution centres in Sydney and Perth with Melbourne shortly to open. We consistently receive feedback that our turnaround times are fast in our centre (same day)- and ofcourse Australia Post can take 2-3 days to deliver depending on where you live. Because we have a centre in Sydney then it takes one day to deliver. This is at odds with the experience you quoted.
Our Member Service standard is to respond to emails within 12 hours and we regularly receive praise for responding in a friendly and helpful way- again this is inconsistent with what you have described.
If you could please email me at stephen@quickflix.com.au with your details then we would be keen to look into further as to why your experience has been different and redress that with you- we'd also be happy to post the outcomes with your permission to this page. |

The WORST online DVD rental company. Extremely poor services. (They NEVER responded to my emails!!). Extremely poor delievery times. I live in sydney, but the delieveries take at least 3 business days (once it took 7 days); even though i've confirmed with Australia Post that it should take only 1 business day. I wasn't gonna say this, but i think they delay the delivery intentionally!! what else can explain the poor delievery time??? I've emailed QuickFlix about this, but they just ignored me.
I don't know why there are so many positive reviews listed on this page, probably the company itself is writing these reviews...... anyway, if you don't believe me just try the free trial-period and see for yourself. Just use them to get free DVDs for a month then just cancel the membership. |

John, I think you might be mistaken--our range is one of the largest and I know from other member's feedback that our customer service people are very responsive, upfront and do their best to help. We notice your derogatory comment re Homescreen as well and glowing review of V2Direct so we'll leave readers conclude we're you're coming from. |

I found the Quickflix looked great, but the service turn around time in Sydney was too slow. I also did not like the fact that I had to order my box set selctions frustrating. I also did not like the search results. It ave me the options to browse results by rating but only each page of results at a time.
I also found having to go backwards and forwards far to much when trying to add a lot of titles to my list. Very time consuming and frustrating. Some of the other sites are a little easier to use. |

I find renting DVDs through Quickflix a fun and, importantly, affordable experience. I like to watch a lot of movies and, so far, Quickflix has been the only online DVD rental company with a library sufficiently expansive and well stocked to maintain my interest. Quickflix is able to keep the DVDs pumping but at a very attractively priced subscription.
Searching for movies on the Quickflix website is easy - alphabetical, genre, actor, director etc title listings as well as recommendations from noted film critics such as David Stratton. Also there is the opportunity for subscribers to add their personal reviews online for the would-be critics amongst us.
Good fun! |
