Just wanted to give you a heads up VHQ technically no longer exists! They were bought out by Movie Gallery, which is probably why they switched to zip. This all happened about 1 year ago :) |

I am so disappointed with VHQ they shouldn't have sold out to zip because they now suck. Zip is way too expensive and have too many restrictions, they don't even have games to rent. Boo to you VHQ |

I found their site easy to use and the selection of movies great. I was able to get my new release sent to me 9 times out of 10 and when I had a problem, they resolved it immediately. Too bad zip bought them out because after moving to zip for a couple months I cancelled my account. |

Loved them!!!!!! Unfortunetly they have been bought out by Zip.ca whom I definitely don't reccomend! Why is it that the good little companies always have to be bought out by the crappy giant ones? |

This company is at least better than Jurrassic DVD. I tried both at the same time and dropped Jurrassic for this one. The selection is just OK though. I wish it had a larger selection. The website is great though because it is very easy to use and to navigate. Very organixed site! The turn-around for disks is also just OK, I recieve about three movies per week. I don't yet know about the customer support because I have yet to need it. I've been with them for about 8 months now. |

I too wish that the dvd's would be shipped faster, at least for the summer, after that I'm going back to school and a week won't make much of a difference anymore. I do like the affordable prices as well. And again still waiting for my next shippment, I think the only way people will get delivery within two days is if you live in the same city as the company. |

What started out as a good experience is slowly going downhill for me. I like the pricing plans and it has a good selection also it has a base in BC which is the only reason I havent cancelled my membership yet ( somebody else open up here please ).At first movie turnaround was great but now I can return to movies on seperate days and they seem to hold on to the first one until the next movie is returned before shipping out again. This seems to be taking longer and longer each time. The customer service is very poor to say the least, ask a online question and the reply doesnt even answer your question its obviously some automated reply system. Try telephoning customer service and leave messages and nobody bothers to return your call. Overall rating 4 and dropping.

Good selection and very fast turn around for me. Typically in the mail on Monday, they receive it Tuesday morning and ship me a new move Tuesday afternoon. I receive it Thurs. (occasionally Wed). Any problems with disks (cracked or slow mail) and they have immediately shipped a replacement when notified on the web site. The turnaround is as almost as good as dvdflix.ca but with better selection. Not as good a selection as zip.ca, but I can see 50%(+) more movies for the price because of the horrible turnaround with zip from Greater Vancouver.
A couple of times when I was really cycling movies I got the feeling that they were holding disks for a day or two before "receiving" them. Then again, Canada Post is so poor that it is entirely possible that the mailbox I use just wasn't collected for a couple of extra days at that point.
The web site is easy enough to do basic searching, but isn't anything special. Movies I have already watched and even movies I have entered low review scores for are typically popped up as suggested rentals. No way to tell how available titles are; I've waited 10+ movies to get my "first choice" at a point. A nice feature is the ability to get multi-volume sets (like TV shows) either "as available" or "in order only".
Great for the price, and you never have to drive to another Rogers/Blockbuster. |

I have to agree with other posts that hint at the idea that this company holds onto movies so that it takes a longer turn around time. The Canada Post turn around time from Victoria to Vancouver is not a week, but that's how long it always takes. Movies have to be in the mail Friday to be replaced with new ones the following Friday. They nickle and dime customers in other ways too, like not including bonus discs with feature movies. And I don't like the way the movies are listed on the web site. It should provide other options for searching by alphebetical or release date. I've expressed concerns to the company, and they treat customers like an inconvenience. As far as I know, this is the only DVD mail service in BC so I'm sticking with them to save a few dollars until competition opens up and then I will dump them like a free copy of Gigli !!!!! And anway, it sure beats Blockbuster who used to actually lie about return times to get overdue fees. |

VHQ has a great online selection system, the price is great, but the processing and mail system need some tune ups. I send a DVD back on a Monday they usually get it by Friday, send me out a new on Friday and it's the end of the following week before I receive a new one. |

Good selection, intuitive and easy to use website, but apparently massive delays processing returned discs, and in turn, sending out new movies.
I live only a short drive from Toronto, which is where the VHQ depot that I return my discs to is located. Mail usually takes 1 to 2 business days (tops) to travel between me and the Toronto area, yet it seems to take VHQ 4 to 6 (!!) business days to "Receive" my movies and check them back in.
The result is that my average turn around time is well over 1 week, which is absolutely rediculous considering the mail takes only a day or two to actually travel the distance. I should be able to drop my discs in the mail on a Monday, and expect to have new discs by at *least* Friday, but this is simply not a reality.
I used to use Zip.ca, and their depot in the area was Ottawa - a great deal further vs. Toronto, and I could expect a 5 day turnaround from them, so I'm not sure what VHQ's problem is.
Obviously, there is a severe backlog of movies to be checked in - the mail must sit in their bins for a day or two (sometimes more, I would guess) before someone physically gets around to scanning the disc as returned, as there is no physical way it is taking this long.
Emails expressing my concerns to VHQ were (to their credit) promptly answered by a real person, but the blame is repeatedly put on Canada Post, which is simply not the case - it does not take 4 to 5 days for mail to travel 40 Kilometers.
Otherwise, I am fairly pleased with the service and selection, but if they do not address these processing delays, I doubt I will maintain my subscription. |

My experience is that the website is great, their automated system is cool. That said, avoid them. It took about 5 days discs to travel to/from Calgary from their shipping point. I eventually cancelled my membership, but one of the discs went missing for about 6 weeks. They demanded its return and eventually charged my credit card $29.96 as a replacement cost. Responses to their support staff that the disc had been mailed were completely ignored. Eventually, the disc mysteriously "appeared" and the charge was reversed. My experience is that you'll be on the hook for any shipping problems that Canada Post or their staff has. Not recommended. |

Fairly happy at the moment ( after 6 weeks ), with their service. The biggest problem concern i have is the postal service. If i return a disc on Sunday a.m. for pickup between 9 am and 6pm, i am counting on that disc to be put thru the postal system over a 12 hour service and returned on their counter by 10 am. . Doesn't usually get there until
Tuesday am., VHQ then sends me an email at 11 am saying disc is back in stock, and at 1 pm i get another email from them saying a new title from my list is on its way. Now.., If that disc hits the mail by 5 pm i should get the disc by wed noon., But usually that doesn't happen till Thursday and sometimes ( 2 out 4 times 0 I won't get it till Thursday. And I live in the same region as VHQ. (Coquitlam) . Their selection is okay no major complaints there. If you have trouble with a disc for playability., email them and they will automatically , that day, send out another disc on your list. I like their price. It is actually cheaper than NetFlix is in the USA. I hope the service in Canada flourishes, as I would hate for it to end. But i see that blockbuster is now offering this service., BUT I would never use them as they probably do the same in store buying habits as they do now, and just purchase pan and scan titles.. So no contract from me thank you very much..!! VHQ always buys letterbox titles for its customer base. |
