I use Netflix and it's alright. If they start to throttle me then I will drop them like a hot potato. I would also like to comment on Bobbie from USA. How lost can an individual be? Take your personal agendas against walmart somewhere else. Of all the wrong that walmart does, you decide to take a stand because of an ad campaign and such a weak stand it is that I am embarrassed for you.
Bobbie from USA - Las Vegas, NV on 2005-08-31 Rates them:
Well, WalMart, I would normally give you a 9 or ten, but Hey, did you hurt your thousands of animal loving customers and your millions of anti-violence teachers who are trying desperately to teach compassion in a culture that idolizes "Grand Theft Auto". Of all the back to school themes - why in the world would you depict cutting up frogs (and rabbits?) as something the kids just can't wait to do. You have some seriously ignorant people in your advertizing department. There is a nation wide movement to ban dissection in our schools - seven or eight states, many counties and large school systems have banned it as cruel, unnecessary, and actually dangerous to the children. It has been banned by most of Europe and many other countries too.
For example, Argentina. It has been proven that children who hurt and kill other children begin by practicing on animals. Jeffery Dahmer started by taking home the fetal pig he had dissected in class. Get with it Walmart. Compassion is the fashion in modern times.

as of late, walmart no longer does dvd rentals. they are sending everyone to netflix for dvd rentals. doesn't surprise me.

I joined up on this site under the 30 day trial program. Overall, I found the whole thing to be mediocre at best. I'd expect more from wal mart, god knows they can afford it.

Selection was lackluster. They had the blockbuster films and some others, but seemed to have less imdependent, foreign or lesser known films than their peers.

Shipping was also about 4 days per movie, which surprised me, considering wal mart has enough money to buy entire states with ease, let alone a few measley distrobution centers.

The price is reasonable, on par with all of their peers.

The service wasn't horrible. An okay selection, tolerable shipping times, overall just mediocre.

I have been a member for about 13 days. I was sent my first 2 DVD's 5 days after I started. One was cracked and the other was badly scratched, In other words I could not watch them. I sent both back and filled out the problem reply on there site. They have to wait for there return before they send out replace ment ones. So I am still waiting for another disc from my choice. At this rate I will be lucky to get 4 disc a month. I only took the 2 disc a month rate. I am now checking out netflix to see how they are. my Dad has used them and said the turn around is fast. good luck

From the place I live in, the distribution center is about 10 to 20 miles away, which makes next day delivery possible. Sometimes I receive the dist next day but sometimes I have wait 5 extra days to get the disk. The average waiting is 2 days. Walmart never sent two disks at the same day even I sent then back together and received their notice of receiving them by emails. What they do is send one in the day and then send one in the late afternoon (after post office closd) to make there will be an one-day delay on second DVD. There is no way to tell when them actually sent the disk out (no postal stamp on the envelop tells the date). And the long you wait the more thought of "did they actually sent out the dick?" comes. I average get 8~10 disks per month on my 4+ month rental periods (2 out plan). With the droping price of Netflix, I am seriously considering switch.

you get what you pay for. shipping is SLOW compared to netflix. sometimes i'll get the dvd the day after they say they shipped it, and other times i have had to wait up to 6 or 7 days. the shipping center i receive my films from is only 2.5 hours driving distance from where i live, so shipping shouldn't take more than two days. if it takes 6 days to get to you, you can "report a problem" with the dvd though, and they will send you the next one off your list. the other dvd will most likely arrive at your door in another day or two, so it's not that terrible of a deal.
twist from Washington State on 2004-09-17 Rates them:
I am a member of Netflix and Blockbuster's 8 movie plans and was a member of Walmarts 4 movie plan. I paid $6.80 for the free-trail month because I wanted 4 movies at a time plan. They are much much slower from my location than both Netflix and Blockbuster. Turn-around time wasn't completely crazy, but it was about 7 or 8 days sometimes. Can't compare to netflix 4 day turn around time.

During my time as a member I recieved one broken disk and they lost one. They were more than happy to fix both problems, but each problem caused me to wait extra time on top of the long turn around time. I have yet to recieve a broken or lost disk from Blockbuster or Netflix.

Blockbuster isn't a bad service and I can't complain about paying $6.80 for a 4 movie free month trial which I cancelled at the end. I see no reason not to sign up with them because of the long free trial. They may have better distribution times where you live.
